Rebuilding[edit | edit source]
Selecting the Academy in its ruined state and then pressing the button will bring up one of two windows. If the Trainer has not rescued Professor Hogwin by beating Quest 5 (Gargoyle Peninsula) in Normal Mode, the window will inform the Trainer that they need to defeat it to rescue Hogwin before they can rebuild the Academy (pressing the Go Now! button will take the Trainer to the required quest). Once Quest 5 is beaten, the window will display the cost and time needed to rebuild the Academy, giving the Trainer the option to rebuild it instantly in exchange for Gems or in exchange for Gold by using the Rebuild 2,500
button.
Upgrading[edit | edit source]
Once rebuilt, the Academy can be used to teach skills to Dragons. The Dragon Academy has five additional upgrades that are unlocked as the Trainer progresses in level. Each Academy Level coincides with the level of training a Dragon can receive. Therefore, if the Academy has only been increased to Level 4, the Dragons can only learn four levels of a skill. The size of this building is 6x6 squares, regardless of its level.
Upgrading the Academy is done by selecting it while it is inactive and tapping the button. Two options will be presented for upgrading. The first option allows an Instant Upgrade Instant Upgrade
and costs a predetermined amount of Gems based on the level it is being upgraded to. The second option costs a set amount of Gold for each different level and has an appointed duration over which the upgrade will take place.

Training[edit | edit source]
After selecting the Academy, pressing the button will bring up the selection screen. Dragons that are eligible for skill training are shown on the selection screen, in decreasing order, by Level. Dragons that are in the Dragon Vault can not be chosen.
In the selection screen, the Trainer can filter the Dragons by one specific Element or by (the default view). Sending Dragons to the Academy can also be done by selecting a Dragon in their Habitat, opening their Codex Entry and then pressing the
Learn button. If the Dragon Vault is present on the Trainer's islands, this button does not appear as the
Vault button takes its place.
After choosing an eligible Dragon, the Trainer will be shown the level(s) of the Dragon's current skill(s), information on what each skill does (as well as the cost and time needed to upgrade it), the current number of Scrolls the Trainer has, the button (which will take the Trainer to the selection screen when pressed), the i button (which brings up the Dragon's base Codex Entry, and either the Unlock
button for Elements that have no skill level or the Upgrade
button for Elements whose skill level is at least 1.
When a skill is finished being unlocked or upgraded, the icon will be shown atop the Academy. Selecting the Academy (tapping the icon) will bring up a window that briefly explains the Dragon's unlocked or upgraded skill and closing it can be done using the Wow, thanks! button.
Mastery[edit | edit source]
If the skill level of the Element is 5, the Trainer will instead be shown the Choose Your Mastery! button. When pressed, it will take the Trainer to the mastery screen to choose between one of two available masteries by pressing the Unlock
option underneath the one they prefer. Should the Trainer wish to change the mastery of a Dragon to another one, they can head to the same screen and press the
button. This will bring up the window with both skills, where the current skill has the Current Skill button underneath it and the other skill has the Switch
button. Switching the skill is done instantly.
Time Reduction[edit | edit source]
Selecting the Dragon Academy during a training session or while it is undergoing a construction process will bring up the option which displays the amount of Gems needed to skip the remaining training or construction time. Selecting the option will bring up a window where the Trainer can see the time left until the training session or construction process is finished, and the SKIP ALL
button. Pressing this button will speed up the remaining time.
The Gem cost for skipping timers is calculated based upon the following formula: (TimeInSeconds ^ -0.44) * 0.15 * TimeInSeconds
for training skills and (TimeInSeconds ^ -0.46) * 0.12 * TimeInSeconds
for the construction time, and the final result is rounded up by 1 if it is between the 1-10 range, and by 5 if it is between the 10-100 range.
For example:
- The cost to skip the initial upgrading time to a Level 2 skill (10 minutes) is: (600 ^ -0.46) * 0.12 * 600 = 5.3 - rounding by 1 applies, thus the cost to skip the timer is 6
.
- The cost to skip the initial upgrading time to a Level 2 Dragon Academy (3 hours) is: (10800 ^ -0.46) * 0.12 * 10800 = 18 - rounding by 5 applies, thus the cost to skip the timer is 20
.
Outside the Dragon Academy, the training and construction time can also be reduced through forging Chronosian Seals or activating Chronos's power, actions which reduce several ongoing timers in the game by 6 hours, and through Timer Boosts, bonuses offered by visiting Trainers, which reduce certain individual timers by 5 minutes.
Moving[edit | edit source]
The Dragon Academy can be moved at any time, even when under construction, to a different location by pressing down on the building and then dragging it to the new location or by pressing down on the building and then simply tapping the desired location. The building is selected for moving when the X and ✔ buttons appear underneath it. An arrow will appear on each side of the Academy indicating if it can be placed in the new location or not. If the arrows are gray, the spot is not accessible, and if the arrows are green, the Academy can be placed onto that spot. The repositioning is confirmed through the ✔ button while pressing the X will cancel the moving and restore the default position of the Dragon Academy.
History[edit | edit source]
- Update 4.2 modified the graphical interface of the Dragon Academy.
- Starting with this update, only Dragons that are stored in the Dragon Vault are not eligible for attending the Academy. Before this update, Dragons that were preoccupied with timed actions, such as exploring ruins, breeding and other processes of this kind were not available until said process was finished.
- Update 3.0 replaced the
icon with the
icon.
- Update 1.5 made the Academy repositionable. Prior to this update, it was an immovable building.
- Update 1.1 increased the costs for upgrading the Academy and the skills.
