Mentoring Program
From Dragon Mania Legends (DML) Wiki
The Mentoring Program was one of the many Social features, it was a means for experienced Trainers (hereafter referred to as mentors) to guide new Trainers (hereafter referred to as apprentices) throughout their first steps of the game. Both the mentor and the apprentice had to be on the same platform and server. This option could not be accessed by Trainers who had set their age to 16 or younger upon registering their account.
The Mentoring Program was accessed through the tab on the left-hand side of the screen. All related notifications were indicated when the
icon was displayed in the top-right corner of the tab. However, notifications that indicated when the quest slot was free were represented by the
icon, which was displayed in the bottom-right corner of the tab.
Chat[edit source | edit]
The mentor and the apprentice could interact with each other through the chat feature. Every mentor had a separate chat window for each of their apprentices.
Messages were written at the top of the chat interface and then sent through the button (the message could also be sent through the enter key on the keyboard). The names of Trainer were colored in white over a dark gray background, while the background color for messages was light gray with black text. However, Trainers had the option to color their text by adding # and any number from 1 to 7 before their text. Messages were limited to 512 characters, and profanity was censored with asterisks.
Mentor[edit source | edit]
Trainers could only become mentors starting at Level 70. A Trainer could mentor four apprentices at the same time. Once inside the main menu, the Trainer could see all four of their apprentice slots at the top of the screen. For the first three slots, Trainers had the option of adding apprentices based on the language they chose when applying for the apprenticeship. This was done by simply selecting the
option and then selecting the desired language. The same slots were reserved for finding apprentices through the Get Apprentice button. If there were available apprentices, pressing this button would automatically assign one to the mentoring Trainer.
The last slot was for apprenticing a Trainer through the Recruitment Code. The apprentice would have to enter the mentor's Recruitment Code to establish the connection. The mentoring Trainer had the option of enabling or disabling this slot.
Once an apprentice had been found, the mentor had the option of visiting Visit their apprentice's islands, gifting them, assigning them one of three available quests, or even revoking their apprenticeship by pressing the ••• button and then the Dismiss button. On the same screen, the mentor could see the apprentice's current level, their total amount of unique Dragons, the current Main Quest they were facing in the Normal Mode of the Campaign Map and the time they were last online.
If a mentor had revoked three apprentices in a timeframe of under 3 hours, all of their unoccupied slots would be put on hold for 3 hours, making the Trainer unable to find any new apprentices during that time.
If an apprentice had revoked the mentorship of the Trainer, the Trainer would then have to press the Get New Apprentice button to free the spot for other possible apprentices. Once an apprentice reached Level 17, their apprenticeship was concluded and the mentor would be rewarded a Present from the Apprentice.
Once 10 Trainers had successfully concluded their apprenticeship, the mentoring Trainer would be rewarded with the Professor Dragon. It was not necessary for apprentices to interact with their mentor or even complete the quests they were assigned by them for them to count as alumni for their mentoring Trainer once their apprenticeship was over. They would count as alumni as long as they had reached Level 17 under the tutelage of a mentoring Trainer.
Mentors could see the total number of apprentices they had successfully tutored under the My Alumni tab. Under this tab, the mentor could also communicate with any of their alumni by simply tapping their name, or they could visit their islands or Remove remove them from the list. Additionally, all the mentoring Trainer's alumni and even their own former mentor could be seen and communicated with under the Alumni tab of the Social System.
Apprentice[edit source | edit]
Trainers could become apprentices starting with Level 7 but could be no higher than Level 11. Once inside the main menu, before applying, the Trainer had the choice to select the desired language through the option, and then they could try to find a mentor through the Get a Mentor button or add a mentor directly through the Code button. If the Trainer chose the former option, they might have had to wait a certain period of time until they were paired with a mentor. However, the Trainer could still play while the game automatically searched for a free mentor. If the Trainer picked to use the latter option, they would have to enter the Recruitment Code of the mentor, provided the slot was free and the mentoring Trainer had enabled it. Entering the code would reward none of the Trainers with additional benefits.
Once a mentor had been found, the apprentice had the option of visiting Visit their mentor's islands, gifting them], or even revoking their mentorship by pressing the ••• button and then the Dismiss button. On the same screen, the apprentice could see their level, the currently active quest they had to complete (if available) and the time the mentor was last online.
If a mentor revoked the apprenticeship of a Trainer or if an apprentice revoked the mentorship of a Trainer, or if an apprentice had reached Level 17, the apprentice would have the option of rating the mentor bad Bad or good Good. If they chose the latter, no additional steps were needed to finalize the action. If they had picked the former, they had to select one of Mentor had communication issues, Mentor was hostile towards me, Inactivity on Mentor side, or I experienced other issues to conclude the rating.
A Trainer could have only one mentor at any given time, but they could always revoke their current mentor and replace them with another one.
Once an apprentice reaches Level 17, their apprenticeship was concluded, and they would be rewarded an Arcane Diploma. Apprentices could keep in touch with their former mentor and even their own future alumni through the My Alumni tab of the Social System and, until they reached Level 22, through the main interface of the Mentoring Program.
Quests[edit source | edit]
Only one quest per apprentice could be active at any given time. The mentor had the option to cancel any active quest, but there was a 2-hour cooldown period before a new quest could be assigned. There were a total of 42 different quests, with only 3 to choose from at any given time. Some quests were unique, while others would appear only when the apprentice reached a specific level. Additionally, some quests scaled in accordance with the Trainer's level. For example, a quest requiring a Level 7 apprentice to achieve 14 perfect hits would require a Level 10 apprentice to inflict 2.2 times the amount of perfect hits, namely 18 perfect hits.
Level | Multiplier | |
---|---|---|
Reward | Objective | |
7 | 1 | 1 |
8 | 1.2 | 1.1 |
9 | 1.7 | 1.3 |
10 | 2.2 | 1.3 |
11 | 2.8 | 1.5 |
12 | 3.8 | 1.7 |
13 | 5.7 | 1.9 |
14 | 7.8 | 2.1 |
15 | 10 | 2.3 |
16 | 10 | 2.5 |
Once a quest had been completed, a notification at the top of the screen would be shown and there was a 1-hour cooldown before a new quest could be assigned. Upon completion, a Level 7 apprentice would be rewarded with 35 experience points and either 200 Gold or 20 Food while the mentor would receive no reward. The rewards scaled in accordance to the apprentice's level, but did not depend on the Level Modifier. Thus, for example, a Level 10 apprentice would receive 2.2 times the amount of the base reward (77 experience and either 440 Gold or 44 Food).
