From Dragon Mania Legends (DML) Wiki

Could somebody please update this template? I can't do it myself, I would love to but don't know how, I think this page is protected. Dqfn13 (talk) 08:48, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

I added Farming Fanatic. All templates are protected since an unintended change to a template can have site-wide consequences depending on the template. I think the wiki folks (myself included) are a little burned out, especially considering this new update. Cryscryb2 (talk) 21:53, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Cryscryb2, I'm not realy active as writer, and I don't know how everything works here, but how can I help in cases like these? I've seen late updates of templates before and I know my way on Wiki's (I'm a contributur on severall Wikipedia's and other Wikimedia projects like Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata). So I know my way around with HTML and I know what templates can do/cause. Dqfn13 (talk) 20:08, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
Seeing that you contribute quite good stuff I would like to upgrade your user rights. Maybe you could contact me per Email to talk about the details? I hope you do. | -- SoukupMi -- (talk / EMail) 21:18, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
Cryscryb2: In cases when the mainpage or templates aren't updated perfectly on time, there isn't a way currently for an average user to help. Not until they have become an admin with template editing privileges. There are lots of pages that aren't templates and aren't protected that need editing and stuff added, and there is a lot of writing. Items in the main namespace (that don't have a prefix like Template: or MediaWiki:) or items in the Category: namespace can be edited. We mostly don't put HTML in pages because they cause maintenance issues, those are usually reserved for templates and for global CSS styles (in our Common.CSS) that affect multiple item across the site, that don't have to be styled per-page (there is the occasional exception to this rule, and when something needs to be changed for look and feel, it gets changed globally in one place and affects every item it is used on in the site (more efficient). Only Interface Admins get to edit CSS styles (myself, Soukupmi). We don't use a ton of HTML for those reasons, mostly css classes (I'm the CSS caretaker, and Soukupmi) just for right-image columns that shrink for mobile and for inserting mobile column layouts for some stuff. Were you wanting to do primarily HTML stuff (and by HTML stuff are you lumping in CSS with that)? Or were you wanting to help with other things too?
I could use help with swapping in-text button images with a css/html combo we made in a template if you're interested. Probably I'd need to email you for that, or get you on messenger for an easier explanation, you don't have an email associated to your wiki account, so you can email me thorugh: Special:EmailUser/Cryscryb2. I'll ask the other Admins what else we need help with. Oh, we need a table for the Sigil Chests, basically we need this table rejigged to have both the common and uncommon odds (I have a screenshot of the info for that). Then it will get moved to the Sigil System page (where it rightly belongs), and included/transcluded back into the Sigils page. If you are not familiar with wikitables (probably you are, if so ignore the following), you can use this to make the editing easier and I can help you with getting the hang of our templates. Soukumi is our Template caretaker, he makes them all for the most part, and fixes them and makes sure they cascade everywhere as they should. There are only a couple of templates like this News one and the Slider that are made specifically for daily edited by other Admins. It takes a while for users to demonstrate enough proficiency and accuracy working on the wiki and employing other templates in regular pages, to earn their way to Admin. We're always looking for new players to join the team, would be great if you were interested working with other templates in the regular pages first, glad to have you with us! :) Cheers Cryscryb2 (talk) 21:33, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
User:Cryscryb2:Cryscryb2, I've send you an email. Sorry for writing this late, in the email I've also explained why. Dqfn13 (talk) 19:40, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
