How do I move buildings?

See Moving Buildings

Can I sell buildings?

Habitats can be sold only when they are empty, not being built, or not being upgraded. Other buildings can be sold when they are not undergoing any activity (only then will the selling symbol appears). The Dragon Academy, Temples, Dragon Vault and the Breeding Den and Hatchery are unsellable. To sell a building, select it, then (if available) choose the Sell Button.png button.

What should I save Gems for?

  • Leveling the Ancient Portal: With more energy units, you can hire a Dragon from one of your friends on battle maps, participate in more battles, and earn more food by redoing Side Quest battles.
  • Leveling the Hatchery: You can hatch more eggs at the same time.
  • Purchasing the VIP Status: Battle rewards on the Campaign Map are increased by 50% (and on higher levels, that is a significant and important amount of Gold and Food).
  • Buying a Boss Habitat and a Boss Dragon (if highly desired): They cannot be bred, only bought with Gems, and each boss increases Gold production by 10%.

How do I get rid of pop-up or banner ads in my game?

You need to make one purchase, no matter how little, using real money. This only removes the ads that take over the screen randomly unexpected, it does not remove ads that can be played in exchange for speeding up game items, earning more food, etc. The Pile of Gems bundle or the Clam when it is on sale are good recommendations for inexpensive purchases.

What happens if my VIP Status expires while I am participating in a VIP-only event? Does it affect VIP Level?

Even if your VIP period is over, you remain a participant for the remainder of that event. VIP Level is also unaffected. Additionally, any progress accumulated in that event is not lost.

How can I raise my VIP Level?

Through the purchase of Gems. For more information: VIP Levels.

What is the main computer font used in the game?

The main game font is Grobold. This font is also used on the Main Page banners and on buttons.

I'm having good/bad luck, why?

This game, like other computer games, uses Random Number Generation (RNG) that determines a player's luck in obtaining certain things, such as chest loot. The game also uses weighted probabilities to help determine the rate and frequency of certain items generated or rewarded, resulting in weighted random numbers.[1] This allows the game developer to adjust the drop rate of certain items based on factors such as Rarity. Players having favorable or difficult luck obtaining things may find their luck change with additional gameplay, or by trashing or refreshing items/quests/tasks, or repeating (non-exploiting) actions a significant number of times to provide additional opportunities to obtain them. Paid features may also influence outcomes, though these are still governed by RNG and thus can have mixed results for players.

Some event types in Dragon Mania Legends rely more heavily on "pure" RNG (pure luck or randomness) for success in obtaining Dragons, such as grand prize dragons in Divine or Ancient Chest Opening Events, and other events rely more on grinding (performing repetitive tasks) and/or performing tasks at certain intervals.

What type of RNG is used?

This game, like many computer games, uses pseudo-RNG (PRNG) because it is efficient and "more effective to calculate on a large scale (think of a random number being generated every single time you trash a recipe / ingredient in Cake Craze, and then multiply that by every other player also doing the same thing).[2]"

PRNG is algorithm-based, and though it isn't considered to be truly random like "True" Random Number Generation (TRNG), "it works well and is used widely in video games for the purposes of randomizing digital dice rolls or calculating prizes/rewards inside virtual chests.[2]" There are other types of RNG (e.g., Hardware RNG, a type of TRNG, which uses physical phenomena to generate truly random numbers such as atmospheric or thermal noise), though the collection and detection of input are inefficient and cannot be reproduced for easy testing.[3] PRNG methods, when well-designed/chosen and tested, can be hard to distinguish from True-RNG (though various PRNG methods may be applied by different game makers in a multitude of ways, and it may be adjusted or unadjusted resulting in significantly different experiences).[4][5] The specific PRNG method used in Dragon Mania Legends is known only to the game maker (Gameloft).

How are 'weights' applied?

The method for randomly drawing something for the player (such as cakes / ingredients in Cake Craze) [Gameloft uses] a system of 'weights', which is [how] games can determine how rare something is.[2]

Players can generally expect that items of higher Rarity classification will have a lower weight probability. A simple example of weights applied to items in-game (using the example of a role-playing game with equipment items for a character) might be:

You could get a powerful sword, a weak shield, and an average helmet, let's say, and by using weights you would determine that there are fewer 'pieces' of the sword and the most 'pieces' of the shield. Through this, you have a total number of pieces available in that chest and, by taking one of those pieces, have a potential chance of an item appearing (i.e., the one item in the chest that is generated). For example:

  • weight of 29 on the sword (11.6%)
  • weight of 73 on the helmet (29.2%)
  • weight of 148 on the shield (59.2%)

You can have any number of items and weights in such a system, this is just a basic example to explain how it typically works[...] And the fewer potential outcomes there are, the more likely you are to get repeat results in a row; consider flipping a coin vs. a [twenty-sided dice] chance.[2]

About Dragons

How can I determine which Dragon I am currently breeding?

Use the Breeding Calculator or the Table of Dragons.

How can I determine which Dragon I am currently hatching?

Use the Dragon Eggs image category to look through and identify your egg. Note that there are "previous page" and "next page" buttons because there are several pages of dragon egg images.

What happens when you breed two Legendary or Divine Dragons together?

They will each pass on only one (unlocked) Element. Read more about it here: Breeding.

Does upgrading the Breeding Den increase my chance of breeding Dragons?

No. Upgrading the Breeding Den is only for breeding Enchantment Dragons.

Which of my Dragons is hired by my friends for battles?

The highest-leveled Dragon that you have. In the case where there are multiple Dragons at the same level, the one having the highest attack is rented.

Can I breed the Dragon of the Week using another combination than the one given by the game?

No. The in-game combination is the only one that can result in the successful breeding of the Dragon of the Week.

Can I breed the Dragon of the Month using other Elements than the ones given by the game?

No. The required Elements given by the game must be included in some combination to successfully breed the Dragon of the Month.

Can I breed the Dragon of the Week/Month more than once?

Yes. As long as that Dragon is still available as Dragon of the Week/Month, you can breed it as many times as you want for the duration of that period.

If I breed the Dragon of the Week/Month without enough less time left on the timer than its breeding time, do I still get it?

Of course. The game will not transform your Dragon into another one, even if the breeding is finished when the weekly/monthly has already expired, as long as breeding began before the weekly/monthly event expired. The breeding result is determined when you start breeding: even if the special breeding period ends, you will still get it if breeding began during the special breeding period and the breeding resulted in a match.

If one or more enchanted dragon is bred together, will the offspring become enchanted too?

No. Dragons can only be enchanted through the Enchantment Menu or in the Enchantment Altar using specific Enchantment Materials and Gold.

Can I rename my Dragons?

Yes. Select the Habitat that has the Dragon you want to rename, then press that Dragon's icon. From there, tap the i button in the top-left corner, then tap the  More Options  button, then choose the Change Nickname Icon.png  Rename  button from the given options.

How do I move Dragons?

Yes, tap rapidly on your Dragon instead of swiping.

Technical Issues

How do I change my nickname?

Select the Options Icon.png button in the top-right corner of the game, then scroll down to Settings and from there choose Select Nickname. Bear in mind that while choosing your nickname for the very first time is free, subsequent changes will cost 5 Gems each.

What is a Gameloft Player ID?

The Gameloft Player ID, colloquially known as the Customer ID, is a code specific to each player in the game and is used by the game developers to identify that player. It is used when sending a ticket to Gameloft in cases where issues need to be resolved or when requesting the transfer of the game progress from one operating system to another. The code can be found by pressing the Options Icon.png button, then going to the     Info     section and then the     About     section. The code will be listed next to Gameloft Player ID.

I have added friends on Facebook, but I do not see them on my friend list in the game itself.

Platform/server limitation

Your friends need to be on the same platform and server as you are. There are three supported major device operating systems (platforms), namely Android, iOS, and Windows, though support is also available for Fire OS. Only Trainers on the same platform and server can see, friend, or interact with each other.

Users on each platform are usually divided into one of two retail servers, namely apa and eur (in some cases, the suffix "eur" is not displayed). The server is found by pressing the Options Icon.png button, then the     Info     button, followed by the     About     button. The server name then appears below the Save Data Server text. A third server, "chn", is available only to Android users in China (iOS and Windows users are still on apa in that country). There is also a limit to the number of friends that display in the Friends List.

Permission

When giving DML access to Facebook, make sure you give the game permission to use your friend list. In case you forgot to do it, exit the game. Then navigate to Facebook to access the Apps section of settings, then click on Dragon Mania Legends from the list. In the window that appears, make sure the Friend list option is enabled (a white check mark on a blue background). If this does not work, press the Options Icon.png button in-game, tap on Connect to social network and log your Facebook account out. Thereafter, go back to the same Apps section on Facebook and delete Dragon Mania Legends from the list. Then connect your Facebook account with the game again, making sure to give the game the permission to access your friend list.

I want to transfer my progress to another device or operating system. Is that possible?

Another device

The same game may be played on multiple devices of the same platform and server by logging into the same account (through Facebook, Google Gamer ID or X-Box Live) where the progress is stored, using the Connect to social network option from the menu, as long as all devices run the same Operating system.

Another operating system

The game does not support cross-platform play; therefore, there is no possibility to use the same account on a different platform. To transfer your progress to another platform, follow the instructions below:

Method 1 – Inside the game

1. Sign in to the game on the original device
2. Connect the game to Facebook with the same account that you will use on the new device
3. Press the Options Icon.png button and then the Customer Care Icon.png Customer Care button inside the game
4. Scroll to the bottom and choose "My problem is not listed as a known issue"
5. Complete the necessary information carefully
6. (If available) choose "Gameplay Issues" for the Select an issue option, and "Other" for the Sub-issue option
7. Write your request as clear as possible under the Description section, making sure to include your Gameloft Player ID (which can be found by pressing the Options Icon.png in the game, then going to Info and then About) and your Recruitment Code
8. Sign in to the game on the destination device
9. In the new device, connect the game to the same Facebook account that you connected to the old device
10. Repeat steps 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8

Method 2 – Outside the game

1. Access this form
2. Complete it with the necessary information
3. Choose "Gameplay Issues" for the Select an issue option, and "Other" for the Sub-issue option
4. Write your request as clear as possible under the Description section, making sure to include your Gameloft Player ID and your Recruitment Code
5. Wait for a reply from Customer Care, then follow their instructions from there on

Notes

Have in mind that, after the transfer is performed, the data in your previous device will be deleted.
Once Customer Care receives your request and your confirmation that you want this operation, the transfer can be performed.

The transfer procedure is not instant and can take between one day and one week, or even longer.

I want to transfer my game progress from one Facebook account to another. Is that possible?

To achieve this, you will need to know the Facebook ID of both of your accounts. You can use this tool to look for it. Thereafter, you will need to send a request to Gameloft via this form, specifying the ID of the account from where you want to transfer the progress and the ID of the account to which you want to transfer the progress. Choose "Gameplay Issues" for the Select an issue option, and "Other" for the Sub-issue option. Write your request as clear as possible under the Description section, making sure to include your Gameloft Player ID (which can be found by pressing the Options Icon.png in the game, then going to Info and then About), your Recruitment Code and the aforementioned Facebook ID.

Is it possible to change my server?

Yes. Contact Gameloft via this form, write your request as clear as possible under the Description section and make sure to include your Gameloft Player ID (which can be found by pressing the Options Icon.png in the game, then going to Info and then About) and your Recruitment Code. To have your progress transferred, you will have to include your Facebook ID as well. You can find it using this tool. Be aware that if you reinstall your game after that, the server will switch back to the original one; thus you would have to repeat the process.
If you happen to be in a country that is on a different server than yours, it is easier to switch servers by uninstalling and reinstalling the game while there. The rough distribution of the servers is as follows: countries from Europe, the Americas, and Africa are on EUR, while countries from Asia and Oceania are on APA. Exceptions might show up depending on the player's settings or even internet stability, but, generally, the distribution is respected. One notable is exception are Android players in China whose server is CHN.

Will my server change if I move to a region that is on a different server?

Not unless you reinstall the game. Server detection is first done when the game starts up for the first time after the game was just installed and then saved. Uninstalling and installing triggers the detection again. For example, if you start the game in any country from Europe, the Americas, or Africa, you will be playing on EUR. If you then travel to any country from Asia, you will remain on EUR because that value is still cached for you. If you re-install the game while in Asia, you will trigger detection, which will switch you to APA.

Can I change my age or gender in the game?

Once you have set your age and gender the very first time you started your account, there is no way to change these values yourself; thus you must contact Gameloft Customer Care.

Some Dragons and buildings appear as black silhouettes with question marks on them.

Tap the Dragons/buildings in question and download the additional data required by the game. If needed, restart the game.

Building Placeholder 1.png Building Placeholder 2.png Building Placeholder 3.png Building Placeholder 4.png

See Downloadable Content for more information.

I have to download 0.0 MB additional data, but the game will not let me.

There are several issues that can cause this to occur. The most frequent one is that your internet connection is unstable. Restart the game and make sure you are as close as possible to the wireless router (if you are using a mobile device) and no one else is using it except for you. In case your wireless has a weak signal, use mobile data. Alternatively, you can restart your device and router and retry. If neither of the two works, clear your app cache for DML. For iOS and Windows, you will need to download a cache cleaner from the store. For Android, go to Settings > Apps > DragonML > Clear Cache. If that does not work either, try to delete some unused apps, as the issue might be caused by insufficient memory. In case nothing works, contact Gameloft.

Some features are missing that are normally there.

This situation can sometimes happen after a game update. To download the missing features, press the Options Icon.png button, then go to the bottom of the menu and press the Downloadable Content button then press the     Download All     button. If the button is grayed out, it means you have all the available features. Downloading missing features does not negatively affect the game progress (i.e., you cannot lose your game progress by doing this).
